Assessments are much more than "tests."  Teachers assess students continuously, most of the times through informal, or alternative, means such as observation, quizzes and interviews.  In addition, teachers use formal assessments, such as standardized tests, to provide valuable information about a student’s skill achievement.  Good classroom practices involve using both alternative and standardized assessments.
